- Abstract
The article discusses the views of several writers on the connection between the work of author Mark Twain and Hannibal, Missouri and his nostalgic relation with the place. According to Bernard DeVoto, Twain was fond of the village. According to Henry Nash Smith, Twain connection with the village was due to his childhood memories and such memories gave him subjects for his fiction. According to Dixon Wecter, the author's relationship with the town used to change from time to time.
