- Abstract
The article presents discussion of the American Antiquarian Society's collection of naval songs and ballads pertaining to the early decades of U.S. history. Details are given citing the bibliographical and archival collections and their contents. Discussion is given highlighting several ballads from the War of 1812, including "The American Constitution Frigate's Engagement With the British Frigate Guerriere," "Brilliant Naval Victory," and "Bainbridge's Victory: or Huzza for the Constitutions Once More!" Comments are also given relating the context of the songs and the events they portray.
