- Abstract
The article discusses the legal views in Egypt on the conservatory arrest of ships under the country's maritime law. Also cited are the conservatory and executory arrest provisions of the Egyptian Maritime Trade Law of 1990 (EMTL 1990), the adoption by Egypt of the 1952 International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to the Arrest of Seagoing Ships as part of its internal law, and the efforts by international bodies to standardize ship arrest procedures.
