- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the feeding behavior of three hairstreak butterflies Erora opisena, Parrhasius polibetes and Temecla paron on the immature fruits of velvet tree Miconia calvescens in Costa Rica. The study demonstrates the maximum feeding of E. opisena in pre-flowering M. calvescens and T. paron in flowering. It further demonstrates the feeding behavior of larvae of E. opisena which damaged an average of 24 and 21% of an inflorescence before pupating.
