The article discusses the legal implications of pretrial diversion programs which have emerged in relation to the doctrine that the Supreme Court has established through the Heck v. Humphrey trial. It examines the prevalence as well as the purpose of such programs in the U.S. law. The author also covers the importance of federal habeas corpus to the establishment of the Heck doctrine.
