- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 48-year-old woman presented with localized pain and redness in her thumb after sustaining an injury from the vertebral spine of a tilapia fish. She received ceftriaxone intravenously for presumed cellulitis, but erythema extended to her axilla with lymphangitic streaking. It mentions that she was diagnosed of necrotizing fasciitis and Vibrio vulnificus infection, and was given doxycycline and ciprofloxacin; and discusses risk factors for the infection.
