- Abstract
A study published in the International Journal of Dermatology has found a causal relationship between atopic dermatitis (AD) and an increased risk of impetigo, a bacterial infection. The study used a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis to investigate this association. The researchers identified specific genetic variants that were strongly associated with impetigo risk. However, further research is needed to validate these findings and understand the biological implications. These findings could potentially inform preventative interventions for both AD and impetigo.
