- Abstract
The article explores the role of the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine in preventing tuberculosis (TB) in Great Britain. The government provided guidelines for the BCG vaccination programme. Risk factors of developing TB include malnutrition, alcoholism and smoking. Coughing, haemoptysis, lethargy, weight loss and fever are identified as symptoms of TB. Health professionals are advised to understand the basic epidemiology of the disease and the role of the vaccine in controlling it.
