- Abstract
Fluoxetine is one of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) used widely for the treatment of various psychiatric disorders especially depression and anxiety. Galactorrhea is a clinical manifestation which may occur due to medications including SSRIs and also may be due to various medical conditions. In this context; a thirty-seven year old who received fluoxetine treatment for depression and developed galactorrhea is presented. An increase in serum prolactin level with a mass consistent with pituitary adenoma was determined by computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. As in all fields of medicine, comorbid diagnosis is extremely important in psychiatry in order to analyze the clinical conditions for treatment and prognosis.
