- Authors
McCormack, Alan J.; Bybee, Rodger W.
- Abstract
The article discusses the contribution of Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget to learning theory and addresses the importance of elementary science training for teachers. Piaget has designed and administered tasks probing the intellectual development of children. A study was conducted at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado to investigate the effectiveness of involving pre-service and in-service teachers in the administration of Piagetian tasks to children. Based on the findings of the study, college methods courses can be improved through the inclusion of laboratory experiences involving students in the administration of Piagetian tasks to children.
