Haupt, G. W.
- Abstract
The article presents a study on the experimental application of a philosophy of science teaching in an elementary school in the U.S. Literature dealing with elementary-school-science instruction shows disagreements concerning principles and practices. The purpose of the study was to apply the philosophy of science teaching in the six grades of an elementary school. Principal steps in the method of procedure involve issues in the field that were abstracted from a critical analysis of the writings of those who are influencing science teaching in the elementary school, selection of an objective that deals with the transformation of energy, and determination of the elements of learning that were to be organized into the experimental lessons.
