- Title
Checks and Balances in Synthetic Biology.
- Authors
Moorthy, Jaisree; Fernandez, Dennis
- Abstract
The authors discusses the synthetic biology amid the Intellectual Property (IP) changes. They state that the IP portfolio, an element in any business including patens, copyrights, and trademarks, plays a part in biological systems and machineries. They explain that the Patent Reform Act of 2007 is not for the licensing of patent, particularly when the patent holder is not a part of the product development, affecting universities that license the technology to industries and use the revenue to support researches in the area.
