- Title
REFLECTIONS ON THE FUTURE OF JEWISH FEMINISM AND JEWISH FEMINIST SCHOLARSHIP.
- Authors
Lefkovitz, Lori
- Abstract
The article focuses on the future of Jewish feminism and Jewish feminist scholarship. Asking about the future of Jewish feminism and Jewish feminist scholarship will drive one into the past. At the same time that women are underrepresented in federations, the liberal rabbinate is attracting fewer men who are as qualified as women, and synagogue lay leaderships and the cantorate show increasing signs of yielding to that same phenomenon of so-called feminization, whereby former bastions of male authority and men's community give the appearance of becoming places for women only. Ironically, this is occurring even as the top synagogue leadership posts are still held almost exclusively by men, in all of the liberal denominations and in all branches of the movements.
