- Abstract
Twelve multiple-resistant strains (4 of Escherichia coli, 3 of Kiesbiella pneumoniae, 2 of Proteus vulgaris, 1 of Citrobacter freundii, 1 of Providencia stuartii and 1 of Serratia marcescens) were isolated during a 10-month period. All of the strains could transfer resistance by conjugation using J62-E. coli as recipient. A number of susceptibility profiles were obtained when the organisms were tested against a series of 10 aminoglycosides. All these profiles resembled those found for organisms that possess known mechanisms of enzymatic inactivation.
