- Abstract
A rinosporidiose tem como agente etiológico Rhinosporidium seeberi, um fungo de ambiente aquático, facilmente encontrado em regiões alagadas e de água estagnada. A doença tem caráter zoonótico e acomete várias espécies, mas com baixo índice de mortalidade. A infecção ocorre através da inalação de esporos do fungo presentes no solo ou água contaminada, necessitando de uma lesão prévia em mucosas como porta de entrada. Após a inoculação do agente, ocorre o desenvolvimento de lesão granulomatosa no local, podendo acometer mucosa nasal, ocular, genital e, raramente, mucosa faríngea. O objetivo deste relato é descrever um caso de rinosporidiose nasal em um equino na região oeste de Santa Catarina. Foi atendido no Hospital Veterinário da Unoesc Xanxerê um equino, fêmea, 2,5 anos de idade, da raça Crioula, de 365 kg, com presença de massa de aproximadamente 1,5 cm de diâmetro em mucosa de narina direita, com cerca de dois meses de evolução. Na avaliação clínica todos os parâmetros estavam dentro dos valores normais para a espécie. Na inspeção de sistema respiratório foi identificada uma massa, de aspecto polipoide, granulomatoso e friável à manipulação em mucosa de narina direita, localizada em região dorsomedial ao orifício de abertura do ducto nasolacrimal. Pelo aspecto macroscópico, suspeitou-se de granuloma fúngico ou mesmo neoplasia. Optou-se pela remoção cirúrgica, sendo o procedimento realizado em estação, sob sedação e anestesia local. A sedação foi realizada com detomidina, dose de 10 µg/kg, e bloqueio de nervo infraorbitário com lidocaína 2%. Após, realizou-se extirpação cirúrgica da massa, em base pediculada na região de mucosa nasal, mantendo-se borda cirúrgica de cerca de 0,5 cm de distância da lesão. Seguiu-se hemostasia de vasos adjacentes e cauterização da lesão em mucosa, mantendo cicatrização da lesão por segunda intenção. A massa foi encaminhada para avaliação histopatológica, sendo observadas estruturas esféricas, de parede dupla e tamanhos variados, contendo grande quantidade de esporângios com endosporos e trofócitos, multifocais, compatíveis com R. seeberi. Ainda, verificouse a presença de estroma reacional associado a infiltrado inflamatório mononuclear crônico e intensa fibroplasia, sendo compatível com quadro de rinosporidiose. No Brasil, a ocorrência de rinosporidiose em equinos é baixa e apresenta maior incidência no estado do Rio Grande do Sul, devido ao clima mais úmido. Em casos sugestivos, é imprescindível a realização do diagnóstico definitivo através de exame histopatológico com a identificação dos diferentes estágios de R. seeberi. O equino deste relato pertence à região oeste de Santa Catarina, local onde até o presente momento não foram identificados relatos de rinosporidiose em equinos, além da região ter clima desfavorável para a doença. A ocorrência da mesma, entretanto, demonstra que a rinosporidiose deve ser considerada junto aos diagnósticos diferenciais de enfermidades do trato respiratório superior de equinos.
