- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 45-year-old man with a history of cerebrovascular accident, hypertension and hyperlipidemia whose magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS). Topics discussed include medications given to the patient, processes that lead to central pontine myelinolysis/extrapontine myelinolysis (CPM/EPM) following rapid correction of hyponatremia, and outcomes for patients with ODS.
