- Abstract
This article is the result of a graduation thesis and aims to clarify the role of Public Relations professionals as social mobilization facilitators, using communication as a tool to intervene in the racist reality present in society, with the goal of reducing prejudices and aesthetic stereotypes in various spaces and institutions across the country. The article emphasizes that one of the main functions of communication, particularly in the field of Public Relations, is to engage with society from a humanized and systemic perspective. To achieve this objective, a pedagogical workshop was proposed, using the documentary 'Desconstruindo' as a stimulus for dialogue, addressing self-acceptance within the Black community. The workshop was conducted with students from Albino Feijó Sanches State School in Londrina. The methodology employed for this activity was action research and participant observation. Additionally, a communication campaign was developed to raise awareness among students and teachers in public schools in Londrina, promoting the work conducted at the school. The results highlight the communicator's role in bridging various audiences and enabling the empowerment of affected groups. Therefore, we believe that discussions about racism are still highly necessary in our society, and communication fields can contribute to addressing such issues through information, thereby assisting in the formation of critical, informed citizens who are aware of their role in society.
