- Abstract
French national vaccination guidelines were published in 2012 about the recommended vaccines for patients with weakened immune system: routine vaccine schedule, seasonal flu, and pneumococcal vaccines. Using the databases of the French Regional Health Insurance System (Bretagne), influence of these guidelines on vaccination status of patients over 75 years of age under chemotherapy for solid tumor or hematologic malignancy in Bretagne was studied. The seasonal flu immunization coverage was 53% (CI 95%: 46-60.2) between 2006 and 2012 and 59% (CI 95%: 51-67] between 2012 and 2015 (P = 0.2). For the pneumococcal and the DTP vaccines, it was respectively 18% (CI 95%: 11-26) and 20% (CI 95%: 12-28) before 2012, whereas it was 22% (CI 95%: 14-30) and 31% (CI 95%: 22-40) after 2012 (P = 0.57 and P = 0.07). Considering the low impact of the guidelines, an awareness-raising campaign was initiated toward professionals involved in cancerology.
