Retinoids occupy an important place in dermatological substances portfolio. Initially they were used for the treatment of acne vulgaris, their use being extended to other skin conditions. Topical use of retinoids showed an improvement in the appearance of the skin, so they were studied for the treatment of aging, many of them proving histological and clinical improvements. This class of substances represents a promising field of research. Currently there are many researches in the optimization of these molecules for topical use.
