- Abstract
The article presents information on legal developments in marketing relative to the regulation of price competition. The article discusses the significance of Oreman Sales, Inc. v. Matsushita Electric Corporation of America (Panasonic Industrial Company) and its impact on interpretation of the protection of competition in the price discrimination section of the Robinson-Patman Act. The article notes the court's movement away from more individual protection of competitors towards a general protection of competition. In regard to price control, the article notes Burkhalter Travel Agency v. McFarms International, Inc., where the court clarified the requirements of parties to a class action suit, including the need for parties to be direct purchasers if the charge is price fixing.
