The article explores how the concept of deterritorialization developed by authors Giles Delleuze and Félix Guattari can be applied to the analysis of contemporary African American poets Patricia Smith and Jamaal May. Topics discussed include the concept of deterritorialization and its relevance for literary analysis, an overview of poems by Smith and May, and the use of symbols by Smith and May in their practices of deterritorialization.
