- Title
Constitutional and Indispensable Legislation: Mandatory Random Steroid Testing for High School Athletes.
- Abstract
The article focuses on mandatory random steroid testing for high school students in the U.S. The American Medical Association reported that the use of steroid in high schools has increased from 2.1% in 1999 top 4% in 2002. Several states have responded by enacting legislation that required random steroid testing. New Jersey was the first U.S. state to mandate such legislation. Although there are contentions that random steroid testing was a violation of privacy rights, courts have held that it was not a violation of the federal or state constitutional right to be free from unreasonable searches.
