- Abstract
Rice production represents the main source of rice straw, which is estimated at,on average, 4.5for the period 2003 to 2013. The total cultivated area of rice is estimated at 1.5 million acres during the same period mentioned above. In Egypt, Rice straw is used as fodder for animals and a medium for cultivation of mushrooms and biofuel. Storing hay on the roofs of homes makes it a source of pollution and fires. The objective of the paper is estimating current supply and demand for rice straw. Then analyze financial feasibility for the manufacturing rice straw and measuring the value-added generated from manufacturing. Finally, estimate the forecasted demand for rice straw manufactured products. The actual demand on rice straw is represented in three uses; first, recycling rice straw for animal feed production. Second in the compost manufacturing.Third is to prepare bales of hay. The relative importance estimated for the three uses is about 75% 0.20% 0.5% respectively of the total straw available for use. The financial evaluation of the project of recycling rice straw through the study of the geographical area for the project and description of the project and estimate the cost of investment and operating costs and estimate the value of sales and measurement of financial indicators of the project and finally estimate the financial feasibility and sensitivity analysis. The results indicate that the net present value of the basic solution was estimated at 125,427 pounds, which reflects the project's ability to generate cash flows were positive, which means acceptance of this project in light of the value of this criterion. While the internal rate of return was 86%, which exceed the opportunity cost of and interest on the savings rate of 10%. The results also indicated that the payback period is estimated at 1.17 years. It has been a sensitivity analysis through four scenarios is the first increase in total variable costs by about 10% and the second lower sales by about 5% and the third to increase the interest rate on the loan by about 4 percent, the fourth increase in the total variable costs by about 4% and lower sales by about 4%. The results of the internal rate signals for the four scenarios it exceeds the opportunity cost of capital saving while the payback period is estimated at 2.34, 2.46, 4.15, 3.2 years respectively.Depending on the results of the financial analysis of the project it has been estimated value added for the outputs of this project (hay bales products, canned foods and threshing rice straw and bales of rice processing ammonia) estimated at 473.1, 568, 688.7, 830.6 ,1002.2 pounds respectively during the years of 2009- 2013.Top of Form The research estimates the demand for rice straw, which represents 55% of the total 4.5 million tons during the period 2003-2013. Therefore, if the recycling rice straw project had been circulated in the main rice producing governorates, it will take advantage of that amount of rice straw produced. It has estimated the value added of rice straw recycling to be used in the sectors of animal and vegetable production by about 337,666, 297,987.8, 421,182.2, 571,488.5 537,370.2 pounds during the years 2009-2013.
