- Abstract
The article reports on research which was conducted to investigate the factors associated with initial methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) skin and soft-tissue infections (SSTIs) and their recurrence in HIV-positive patients. Researchers evaluated 794 patients. They found that of the 794 patients, 63 developed an initial infection, that 27% developed recurrence, that risk factors for recurrence included hospital admission and that Minocycline for treatment of the initial infection was associated with an 80% decreased odds for recurrence.
