Discussion In patients with LGA diagnosed during a second-trimester ultrasound examination at our institution, the incidence of GDM was 6.0% and the incidence of LGA at birth was 14.9%. In patients diagnosed with LGA at the time of the second-trimester ultrasound examination, those who developed GDM gained less weight compared with those who did not develop GDM, while those who delivered a LGA infant gained more weight compared with those who did not deliver a LGA infant. Our study substantiates and expands this existing body of literature by highlighting the important role of ultrasound alone in predicting neonatal LGA, as well as the development of GDM at an even earlier gestational age, by assessing the diagnosis of LGA during the second trimester.
