- Title
THE FORGOTTEN STORY OF NAUVOO CELESTIAL MARRIAGE.
- Authors
Smith, George D.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Mormon practice of polygamy, focusing on the allegedly secret plural marriages of the alleged Mormon prophet Joseph Smith. The author analyzes reports concerning Smith's plural marriages, which occurred in the Mormon settlement of Nauvoo, Illinois. The marriages and plural wives of Mormon leader Brigham Young are also discussed. Emphasis is given to Smith's possible marriage to Louisa Beaman. Smith's incorporation of polygamy into the theological doctrine of the Mormon Church is analyzed.
