- Abstract
This document is an editorial published in Frontiers in Psychology titled "Digital participation and communication disorders across the lifespan." The authors discuss the importance of digital participation for individuals with speech and communication impairments. They argue that the current definitions of digital participation do not adequately address the needs of this population and propose using the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as a framework to understand the different components involved. The authors highlight the various activities relevant to digital participation and provide examples from different categories in the ICF. They emphasize the need for individuals with communication impairments to have the ability to perform activities in the digital world in the way they wish to.
