- Abstract
The article profiles Professor Robert Jean Knecht. Knecht was born in London, England on September 20, 1926. He took an undergraduate degree and masters by research at King's College. He specialized in the late medieval English church and Tudor politics and diplomacy. In 1956, he became a professor at the University of Birmingham and later on became interested in writing about aspects of European diplomacy and French history. His travels worldwide enabled him to pursue one of his passions, art history, and were reflected in his biographical studies of Francis I, Catherine de Medici and Cardinal Richelieu.
