A literary criticism of the epic poem "Paradise Regained" by John Milton is presented. It focuses on the parallels which Milton drew between the story of Jesus Christ's temptation by Satan in the wilderness, and the book of Job. An argument is presented that Milton used Job's style of ironic rhetoric as a model for his characterization of Jesus as the Son of God.
