- Title
The Legal Process in Brazilian Literature: Two Twentieth-Century Novels.
- Authors
Lokensgard, Mark
- Abstract
The article discusses the portrayal of the Brazilian judicial procedure in literature and compares it with the Anglo-American system, with reference to Rubem Fonseca's novel "Bufo & Spallanzani" and Sergio Sant'Anna's novel "Um Crime Delicado." In the Brazilian system, judges' power and their responsibility in questioning the defendant, witnesses, and law enforcement officials, would require creating them as clear characters in literature dealing with the trial.
