- Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of preschool curriculum implemented in preschool classes by analyzing transactions on the curriculum that were meaningful to a preschool child. To elaborate on the significance of the curriculum, this case study elucidates on the literary, social, and interpersonal transactions that evolved in response to the enacted curriculum. The transactions were categorized into three major groups, namely (1) embedding literate and literacy experiences of the enacted curriculum, (2) developing social and interpersonal connections to the curriculum, and (3) assimilating classroom expectations of the enacted curriculum. The study concludes that knowledge of the dynamic nature of these transactions can facilitate the evaluation of a preschool curriculum?s effects on early literacy development.
