- Abstract
The article explores the meaning and usefulness of the concept of concurrences in investigations of conditions inflected by colonial asymmetries. Topics covered include ways on how the history of colonial encounters offers examples of competing orders that shaped relations of dominance and submission, the role of mass education in the nation's spatial configuration since the mid-nineteenth century and the questions of scale and projection promoted by colonialism.
