- Abstract
The article focuses on responses of Swedish audiences to African-American actor Ira Aldridge, who began performing at Royal Theatre in Stockholm, Sweden in May 1857. Some of the roles played by Aldrige include Othello, Shylock, Macbeth, and Richard III, which were characters in the plays by British poet William Shakespeare. It also mentions "Aftonbladet" and "Post- och Inrikes Tidningar" as some of the journals that published critics' reviews on Aldridge's performances.
