- Title
CHAPTER 10: Sadomasochistic Desire.
- Authors
Airaksinen, Timo
- Abstract
The article presents the author's views on the sexualized social world of sadomasochism (S/M) from a philosophical and tropological perspective. It mentions that S/M is hard to understand on its own because negative experiences, including pain and humiliation, indicate aversion rather than attraction. The author emphasizes understanding sadomasochistic desire via its typical language and rhetoric, especially by paying attention to the key role of linguistic metonymy.
