- Abstract
The personal journals and autobiographic memoirs provide an exceptional source to know the daily life of Colombian students. Between 1830 and 1930 the schedule of students at both boarding and regular schools included hours for mass and prayer, classes, study hall, breaks, meals, reading and revision of personal hygiene. Be it from five in the morning to nine in the evening in the case of boarding students, or from eight in the morning to five in the afternoon for regular students, each activity was performed under permanent vigilance and with a strict discipline. The aim of this article is to know the school routine of Colombian students form the viewpoint of eyewitnesses, in a century when, more than ever in the history of the country, educational campaigns were undertaken.
