- Abstract
An evaluation of practices of organizational culture presents specific challenges since it requires a reconstruction of the implicit knowledge that guides the action of organizational actors. Evaluators are confronted with the complexity of organizations and the need to take into account their ambivalences, contradictions, and differing practices. A distinction between documentary research on organizational culture and evaluation research is proposed, and the requirements of combining both perspectives are discussed. In this, the focus is on the importance of comparative analysis for the reconstruction of practices of organizational culture.
