- Abstract
The article explores how poet-physicians James Kirkpatrick and James Grainger addressed the use of poetry to cure diseases through the application of various medical and religious customs. Topics include the meaning of Apollo's Arts which used poetry as an instrument of healing based on the divine songs of Greek god Apollo. Also discussed are the power of words in the healing of Protestants, and the connection between religious foundations of healing poetry and African medical knowledge.
