- Abstract
Noncitizen incarceration and deportation are two techniques of social control that are applied unevenly across U.S. states. This study investigates the factors that are associated with the use of these strategies. Analyses reveal the presence of private prisons and law enforcement personnel increase incarcerations and deportations. Immigration related legislation is positively associated with deportations.
