- Abstract
The article aims to examine the life trajectory of twelve women pioneers in Brazilian politics, elected state and federal representatives in the 1950s, in order to ascertain the conditions for their entry into careers as elected officials. The focus is not to approach the biographies of individual women but to consider them as a group, noting their diversity. Therefore, we seek to put together a group biography that highlights their diversity and their commonness, giving historical visibility to these women in politics. In order to understand the diversity of this relationship regarding each character's biography, we work with such themes as family, education, marriage and family life, professional life, public performance, and political life. For the drafting of this group biography, we analyzed biographical notes, legislative archives, press reports, official journals, and academic papers, among other writings. The study indicates there was no common standard for the women who made their debut in politics in those years in Brazil.
