The article discusses the author's views about the ideological consequences of judicial selection in America as of 2017, and it mentions how judges in the U.S. have been appointed by elected officials, selected by technocratic commissions, and chosen in partisan and nonpartisan elections over the years. The ideological preferences of judges and members of the public are addressed, along with state judicial selection methods such as the Missouri Plan.
