- Abstract
The article is a book review of "French Connections: Cultural Mobility in North America and the Atlantic World, 1600–1875" edited by Robert Englebert and Andrew N. Wegmann. The book explores the fluid and diverse nature of French colonial societies in the Americas and the mechanisms underlying this cultural mobility. The collection of essays examines the mobility of individuals, the links between different parts of the French Atlantic, and the consequences for societies, government, and cultures. While not specifically focused on maritime history, the book highlights the significance of the Atlantic as a space for the circulation of people, goods, and ideas.
