- Abstract
The article explores the construction of a refined neoclassical house known as Mulberry Row on a small mountain in Virginia's central piedmont by Thomas Jefferson between 1768 and 1826. It discusses the evidence used to develop four of the thirty-two models of the house, including Joiner's Shop, Negro Quarter, Nailery/Blacksmith Shop, and the Stone Workmen's House. It also presents an autobiography written in the architectural vernacular of the Mulberry Row project.
