- Abstract
The chairwoman of the recently-founded Lietuvos Laisves Kovos Įamžintojiį Sąjūdis, historian Dr Aiste PETRAUSKIENE, talks about new research into the partisan wars, which are bringing together a community of like-minded people. Under much youthful initiative, the 1944-1953 partisan war is memorialised: complex expeditions to study locations of partisan battles are carried out, as well as archaeological digs, research into oral history, information located in KGB archive files and partisan archives (on participants of the resistance) is systematised, books and articles are prepared, and public lectures are given. A youth summer camp, 'Laisvės kovų atmintis' (Memories of the fight for freedom) and academic gatherings are organised. These are all public initiatives to which the members of the movement dedicate their time and funds.
