Abstract
The author reflects on the promotion of ethanol as a biofuel in the U.S. Developments in the promotion of such energy source seems to suggest that the momentum driving this passionate interest in biofuels is broad based and serious. The author points out that ethanol is not price competitive and its promotion is relatively puny and is politically calculated. The author further warns that in order to boost biofuels there is a need to master the politics and economics of energy.
