The article discusses the political aspects of internal conflicts in North-East Scotland during 1435-1452, which was the result of failure of lordship in the country. Topics discussed include death of Earl of Mar Alexander Stewart, a provincial ruler in the medieval Kingdom of Scotland, role of private lordship in political management and irregularities of law and order among Highland communities.
