- Authors
Krsmanovic, Damjan; Anderson, William
- Abstract
The article looks at antique funerary practices, their continuity and their influence on social identity, by evaluating information gathered from the site of Pessinus located in Central Anatolia, Turkey. The authors discuss Hellenistic and Roman-period burials, cemetery locations, and grave types found on East Cemetery 1 (EC1) and North Cemetery 1 (NC1) sites of Pessinus. They also comment on cremation burials dated between the first century before the Common Era (BCE) and the first century of the Common Era (CE). The question of grave dismantling is also discussed.
