- Abstract
The article discusses the issuance of Jinshin land title certificates in Japan during 1872 and 1873, seen as the first attempt for the introduction of modern property rights. The article also examines the Ministry of Finance’s efforts to avoid a new land survey, and the connection between the survey and the issuance of the certificates.
