Cord blood derived CD4+ CD25(high) T cells become functional regulatory T cells upon antigen encounter. A population of CX3CR1 SP + sp macrophages present antigens to CD103 SP + sp CX3CR1 SP - sp dendritic cells (DCs), which then migrate to mesenteric lymph nodes to induce a tolerogenic T-cell response.
