The article discusses the concept of permanency and trends in U.S state laws implementing legal guardianship under the U.S Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997. Topics discussed include the differential value placed on the parent-child relationship in post-legal guardianship custody litigation, the concerns regarding the potential instability of legal guardianship and Social Security Act . It mentions parent's right to file to vacate the guardianship and regain primary custody.
