- Authors
Dorling, Jon
- Abstract
The author reflects on the study of the Speed of Increasing milk Feeds Trial (SIFT) in the prematurely born infants to reduce Parenteral Nutrition (PN). He states that infections like catheter related bloodstream infections can cause due to intravenous feeding. Potential benefits of fast increasing in milk volumes increases the likelihood of necrotising enterocolitis (NEC). Therefore, SIFT trial will be a multi-centre trial and will evaluate effect on survival without serious disability.
